Downloadable versions of Walt Disney World Live Entertianment
Walt Disney World Live Entertainment is available as downloadable versions. They are available for iSilo (Palm, PocketPC OS, Windows CE and Handheld PC), and Plucker doc readers. These versions are available only to registered users from the Registered Users Download page.
Downloadable versions of Menus From Around the *World*
Menus From Around the *World* are also available as downloadable versions. They are available for iSilo (Palm, PocketPC OS and Windows CE and Handheld PC) and Plucker readers. These versions are available only to registered users from the Registered Users Download page.
The iPod Version
For the iPod, no extra document reader is required, you just need to use an iPod that supports the iPod Notes function. These iPods are the 3rd, 4th (iPod Photo) and 5th (iPod with video), iPod Mini and iPod Nano. An easy to find out if your iPod supports notes is to navigate to the Extras in your iPod (where you find such things as Clock, Games, Calendar) here you should also see an option called NotesIf you have not used Notes before, you many have a Note called Instructions there.
The iPhone and iPod Touch
The iPhone and iPod Touch are not currently supported. When Apple releases the SDK (Software Developers Kit) in early 2008 I will look into support for these devices. Hopefully support for these devices will be available by late Spring 2008.
The iSilo Version
To use the iSilo version, you must have the iSilo Doc reader installed on your Palm, PocketPC OS, Windows CE or Handheld PC device. You may obtain iSilo from <http://www.iSilo.com> Currently iSilo versions 3.1.1 through iSilo 4.x are supported (you must use at least version 3.1x for PocketPC). If you use iSilo you really should upgrade to the 3.2 or 3.3 oor later version . If you currently do not have iSilo check it out, it is a great doc reader for Palm OS devices.
At the iSilo Web site, you can find lots of information about the iSilo Doc reader, and you can even download it from their site. If you don't already have iSilo, I recommend that you visit the iSilo site and read the information.
Once the iSilo version of Walt Disney World To Go is installed on your Palm, PocketPC OS, Windows CE or Handheld PC device (with the iSilo Doc reader), it should show up under your iSilo docs menu (ALL), and the name will be Walt Disney World To Go.
Install the iSilo version on your Palm, PocketPC OS, Windows CE or Handheld PC device as you would any other Doc file or application by using the Palm HotSync or PocketPC sync application or other backup and install application that you normally use.
Plucker info.
Plucker is a full featured off-line browser/reader application for Palm OS devices. Plucker operates much like iSilo, the main difference is that Plucker is Open Source, and therefore FREE. If you use the reader application only (none of the web site scooping), Plucker is as easy to use as any other Palm OS reader application. It is fairly intuitive, but documents on how to use the Plucker reader can be found on the Plucker web site.
There are two versions of the Plucker reader.
The current Version 1.8: Is available for for Palm OS Version 4 and 5 and color and Hires devices. There are two different subsets of Plucker version 1.8, one for HiRes displays and one for non-HiRes displays make sure you get the proper version. I have been told that the non-hires version will not work poperly on hires displays, and may even cause you to need a Palm OS system reset.
I have made versions of the Plucker reader available for registered users of Walt Disney World To Go. They are located at the bottom of the Registered User's Download Page. The readers are the same as on the Plucker site, I have just tried to take some of the confusion out of which version to download. I only have the english version, if you need a different language version you will need to download the version you need.
Go to the Plucker home page (http://www.plkr.org/) and select the download link. Just select the Download link from the main page, and then download the package Plucker 1.8 Viewer Package (viewer only, no distiller) . After you download and unzip the Plucker package, you can just install the reader and support files. Currently the two file you need to install are viewer_en.prc (the viewer) and SysZLib.prc (a required support file) on your Palm OS device and your are all set to read Plucker documents. One of the documents in the Plucker Zip file is usually an information file on how to use Plucker (PluckerUserGuide.pdb) You can even download sample documents from the Plucker site, just select the Samples link, then the type of document you want. While at the Plucker site you may want to check out the link Plucker Tour as this is a good explanation of Plucker and how to use it.
To install Plucker, and Plucker formatted documents, just use your normal Palm OS HotSync process or other third party utility that you use to put applications and documents on your Palm OS device.
For Walt Disney World To Go you do not need:
The Plucker Distiller or
The Plucker Desktop
These programs have other uses, but are not needed and cannot be use with Walt Disney World To Go.
Plucker v1.2 : Plucker version v1.2 is no longer actively supported, but is still available at the eGuidesToGo Registered Users Download page. It does not work with Palm OS 5. Use a later version of Plucker or the iSilo version of Walt Disney World To Go and the iSilo reader version 3.3 or later for Palm OS 5.
Note: I have been informed that there is a BETA version of the Plucker Reader for Pocket PC devices, as soon as there is a non-beta version of the reader available for Pocket PC I will announce support. For the more advanced users you can go to : http://vade-mecum.sourceforge.net/ and get a beta copy of the PocketPC version. Keep in mind, I have not used this reader and since it is beta, I cannot provide support, so use it at your own risk. In the meantime I recommend PocketPC users continue to use the iSilo version. If Plucker for PocketPC beta version works for you great, if not, please use the iSilo version.
The Palm Query Application (PQA) Version
PQA versions of Walt Disney World To Go have been discontinued due to support issues. If you currenly use the PQA version you should switch to Plucker (a free reader) or the iSilo version.
Pocket PC, Windows CE and Handheld PC info.
PocketPC, Windows CE and Handheld PC are now supported by using the iSilo reader (available from isilo.com. You must use iSilo version 3.11 (or later) for PocketPC and version 3.25 (or later) for Windows CE and Handheld PC to use Walt Disney World To Go with iSilo - PocketPC. For more information on the iSilo reader see the seciton on this page about The iSilo version and iSilo.com.AvantGo info.
Walt Disney World To Go, Walt Disney World Live Entertainment and Menus from Around the *World* are no longer available as AvantGo channels
AvantGo has found it necessary to limit the number of subscribers to custom channels to eight (8) subscribers . It was a nice service, and very welcome in the Palm and PocketPC OS community, but now it is not as available as it once was.
Instead of AvantGo, I recommend that you use one of the other available options. You can use iSilo, or Plucker version of any of the guides. New for PocketPC, you can now use iSilo PocketPC compatible device.
Thank you,
Andy Dannelley
